Bob, this has been my experience too. I’ve found the majority of material for iOS to be more focussed on standard implementations and usages rather than on best practices and patterns.

Thanks for the review. I was considering purchasing this book, but I’m primarily interested in best practices and patterns for using Core Data in multithreaded applications. As far as I can tell, there’s very little out there in this regard (whether from blogs, stackoverflow posts, or books). Apple’s guidelines are relatively straightforward, but the devil is in the details. Marcus Zarra’s book does apparently have some coverage of multithreading, but most of the reviews seems to indicate that it’s riddled with errors and is generally poorly written. C’est la vie.

I am trying this out, and it seems to have a problem with iPhone 4 retina-display resolution screenshots. Is this indeed the case, or am I doing something wrong?

This can’t be done from Xcode. Have you tried, launching Time Profiler for your app from within Instruments itself?

Very interested by this! However I tried switching to iOS 4.1 by changing the Base SDK and then did a rebuild, but Time Profiler was still greyed out

Any chance you could tell us what steps you took in order to run in Time Profiler?
